Chances are that your mobile phone is one of your most valuable possessions, not just in terms of monetary value, but also in how important it is to your day to day life, as well as all of the personal data that they contain.
Unfortunately, this also means that it’s one of the most targeted items by thieves and can fairly easily be snatched from a bag or purse, or even straight from your hands.
We contacted police forces around the UK to find out just where are the country’s mobile theft hotspots over the past three years.
Excluding London, the city that responded with the most reported mobile phone thefts was Leeds, where over 6,000 phone thefts have been reported in the last three years, including 3,300 iPhones and around 1,500 Samsung devices.
On the other hand, the police force that reported the least amount of stolen phones was Bournemouth, on the South Coast, where just 490 phones were stolen in the last three years.

Phone thefts in London far outweigh those in other cities around the country and it’s little surprise to see that the majority occur in central areas such as Westminster and Camden, where high numbers of tourists and visitors are at risk.
Westminster saw over 33,000 mobile thefts in the last three years, making it by far the most at-risk borough, while Sutton was the area with the least, with just 1,416, which is still a similar number to most cities outside of London!
